Garth Brooks is set to perform at Joe Biden’s inauguration: “It is going to take all of us”

The whole world will be in tuned as President-elect Joe Biden, together with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris take their oath of office on January 20. In addition to a great moment, country star Garth Brooks was announced by the Presidential Inaugural Committee will be performing at the inauguration.

Brooks was asked by Dr. Jill Biden to come and perform during the swearing-in ceremony at the U.S. Capitol. Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez are also slated to perform at the inauguration ceremonies.

For Brooks, it was such a great opportunity to turn down. “It is history,” says the country star. Brooks is looking to send a message of unity and encourages all of us to listen and hopes that we all learn again how to love one another.

The country star has made an appearance at almost every presidential inauguration since Jimmy Carter, with the exception of Ronald Regan. Brooks performed in 2008 when President Obama took the oath and was again invited at President Trump’s inauguration in 2016, which he was unable to attend due to a commitment he made earlier.

Brooks recalled one of his favorite quotes from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.: “We can’t start living until we rise above the narrows of our own individualistic concerns, and focus on the broader concerns of all humanity.” Brooks hopes that as he finishes his performance, everyone who listened will love each other more than before.
